How to show up on Google Maps when people search for you
When someone searches “interior designer near me” or “gym in Hadapsar”, Google shows a map with three businesses before any website. Here’s what decides who gets those spots, and what you can fix this week.

How Google picks the three
Google says local results depend on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how close you are to the person searching) and prominence (how well known your business is, including your reviews). You can’t move your office, but you can work on the other two.
Get the basics exactly right
- Business name exactly as it appears on your signboard, with no extra keywords
- The right primary category. It is the most important choice on the profile
- Map pin on your actual building, not the road or the middle of the area
- Phone, website and opening hours, including holiday hours
- The same name, address and phone on your website, Facebook, Justdial and every other listing
Add real photos every month
Your signboard from the street (it helps people find you), the inside of your office or shop, your team and your finished work. Real photos beat stock images.
Ask for reviews, and reply to all of them
Send your Google review link on WhatsApp right after a job goes well, while the customer is still happy. Reply to every review, good or bad.
Never buy reviews or offer discounts in exchange for them. It breaks Google’s rules and can get your profile suspended.
Make your website back it up
A page for each service, your full address on every page and a map. When your website and your profile give the same details, Google and your customers can trust what they see.
