Five questions to ask before you hire a digital marketing agency

Most problems with agencies start before the work does: unclear scope, unclear price, unclear results. These five questions sort that out in one call.

Who will actually do the work?

The person who sells you the project is often not the person who runs it. Ask who will handle your account, and whether you can talk to them directly.

How will you measure results?

The answer should be enquiries: calls, form fills, WhatsApp messages and cost per lead. Followers and likes are nice, but they don’t pay the rent. Ask to see a sample report.

Is the price fixed, and in writing?

Get a written quote that lists what’s included: how many posts, pages or videos, how many revisions, and whether ad spend is separate from the fee. Ask what would cost extra.

Who owns the website and accounts?

Your domain, website, ad accounts, social pages and Google profile are business assets. Make sure you have access to all of them, and that they stay with you if you ever part ways.

How often will I get a report?

Monthly is normal. A good report is short and in plain language: what worked, what didn’t, and what happens next month.

And notice how they answer. Straight answers are a good sign; vague ones usually stay vague.
